Caterpillar's First HQ in San Leandro, California
Caterpillar began in 1925 in this building on Davis Street in San Leandro, California ...
pictured here in rare snow since it's situated less than 10 miles from the SF bay.
The building was originally owned by Daniel Best, and became Caterpillar's first
headquarters until they moved HQ to Peoria in the early 30s to be more centrally
located in the world market.
Note:
A sign in dead-center reads: SF-Alameda Ferry ... in the background to the right,
a Del Monte watertank peaks up over horizon.
